Replace a broken plastic part
When a small plastic part breaks and the shop no longer sells it, a 3D print is often the quickest way to replace it: a clip, knob, bracket, cover, hook or holder.
1. Find or make a model
Search Printables or Thingiverse for the product name and the part. Many appliance and furniture parts are already there. If not, measure the broken part with a ruler or calipers and draw it in a free app such as Tinkercad, or ask a designer for an STL.
2. Choose the right material
PLA suits most indoor parts. PETG is tougher and handles heat and moisture better, so use it for parts near a window, in a car or outdoors. TPU is flexible, for bumpers, grips and gaskets. See PLA vs PETG vs TPU.
Tomo prints the part as it is designed; it cannot tell whether a part is safe for load-bearing, high-heat or safety-critical use.
3. Upload it and check the price
Upload the STL or 3MF on the homepage. Tomo slices it and shows the exact price, print time and ready date before you pay. If you are unsure of the fit, order one first; extra copies in the same order cost less than the first.
4. Delivered in Nairobi
Each part is checked after printing and packed, then delivered to the point you pin on the map. Pay by M-Pesa or card (delivery prices).
